Justin Brands expanded its domestic manufacturing capabilities with the acquisition of a plant in Brewer, Maine, currently owned and operated by Highland Shoe Co. The purchase includes Highland’s name and all assets.
According to Fort Worth, Texas-based Justin Brands, it will continue to employ all staff members and maintain Highland’s current production of more than 400 pairs of handsewn shoes each week.
“As a Berskshire Hathaway corporation, we’re always open to acquisitions and opportunities,” said Randy Watson, CEO and chairman of Justin Brands. “Planting new roots in a market distinctively rich in America’s footwear heritage aligns with our ongoing commitment to domestic manufacturing.”
The new plant brings Justin’s domestic plant count to four, with additional facilities in Cassville and Carthage, Mo.; and El Paso, Texas.
