Italian brand Superga is one step closer to making its mark in America.
The brand hosted a party Wednesday at the Crosby Street Hotel to celebrate the opening of its first U.S. store on Crosby Street in New York. The brand’s creative directors, Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen, mingled with Steve Madden, who owns the footwear license for Superga.
“There is only one Soho, unfortunately,” Madden said of the location, adding that he was happy to catch up with the Olsen sisters at the party. “They are really quite different, and I enjoy working with both of them.”
Madden’s team was also in the room, including CEO Ed Rosenfeld, brand director Rob Schmertz, marketing director Gabriella Weiser and Wendy Madden, the founder’s wife.
In addition, Lorenzo Boglione, business director for Turin-based BasicNet S.p.A., which owns the Superga brand, posed for photos with the Madden team while DJ Harley Viera Newton worked the turntables. Man Repeller blogger Leandra Medine also joined partygoers, wearing metallic Superga sneakers.
Steven Madden Ltd. took over the U.S. license for Superga in 2011 from R.G. Barry Corp.
