Street Talk: What Will You Wear to the Prom?

The class of 2012 is about to graduate, and seniors are on the hunt for the perfect prom dresses — and matching shoes, of course. Footwear News caught up with a group of New Jersey girls for an idea of what they picked. While styles varied from gold stilettos to a more classic tan pump, prices were kept affordable, at less than $100.

ALEXANDRIA VEARY
Amount spent:
$80
Brand: Caparros
Purchased at: Macy’s
Style: Gold stilettos with rhinestones on a 3-inch heel
Purchasing decision: “I might use the ones I wore last year for junior prom. They were absolutely gorgeous, matched my dress and they were affordable.”

JULIA RIPPLE
Brand:
Shii by Journeys
Style: 4-inch tan pumps
Purchased at: Journeys
Amount spent: $40
Purchasing decision: “I bought them because they matched my dress perfectly, made my long legs look even longer, and I knew I’d be able to wear them more than once.”

ASHLEY CONROY
Brand:
Nina
Style: Silver 4-inch heels with silver gems on the strap
Purchased at: MJM on sale
Amount spent: $40 or $50
Purchasing decision: “I’m using the shoes I wore for junior prom. … I didn’t know at the time that I’d be able to use them this year too, so that was definitely a plus. They’re dressy, but fun.”

JENNIFER WANK
Brand:
Nina
Style: Silver sandals with rhinestones on a 4-inch heel
Purchased at: Macy’s.
Amount spent: About $100
Purchasing decision: “I’m going to wear the same shoes I wore last year for junior prom. Because I have very small and narrow feet, it’s very difficult to find dress shoes that are stylish and comfortable.”

DANIELLE ASH
Brand:
Caparros
Style: Gold metallic pumps on a 2-inch heel
Purchased at: Lord & Taylor
Amount spent: $75
Purchasing decision: “They matched my dress perfectly.”

SARA ISAACSON
Brand:
Mootsies Tootsies
Style: Silver 3-inch heels with rhinestones
Purchased at: Famous Footwear
Amount spent: $40
Purchasing decision: “The silver rhinestones matched perfectly with the rhinestones on my dress. They were also a very good price.”
