Style guru Stacy London lives by the mantra “the higher the heel, the closer to God.” Known for this and other no-holds-barred fashion advice as the co-host of TLC’s “What Not to Wear,” which returned to TV last week, London is now expanding her influence. In April, she launched Style for Hire with partner Cindy McLaughlin. The company focuses on making an army of stylists available to the masses, offering everything from personal shopping to retail tourism. London also headlines Westfield Malls’ Style Tour, featuring fashion and beauty events, and serves as the editor-in-chief for Westfield Style magazine. An avid shoe lover, she already has purchased hot spring looks from Tabitha Simmons, Stuart Weitzman, Jean-Michel Cazabat and George Esquivel. “So far!” she quipped. When asked her advice for budding fashionistas, London divulged, “Sometimes shoes are more important than rent.” Here, she shares her favorite treats, fashion fixes and what one should never, ever wear.
Ultimate guilty pleasure: “It’s a toss up between Momofuku Milk Bar birthday cake truffles [at right] and ‘Fifty Shades of Grey.'”
Shoe that changed my life: “The ruby slippers my mother made me to be Dorothy for Halloween when I was 6.”
The color I could live in: “Another toss up between Crayola’s Manatee and Razzle Dazzle Rose. As a side note, even though I hated Burnt Sienna as a child, I now appreciate its subtle beauty.”
Item in life I can’t live without: “Static Guard.”
Most embarrassing iTunes download: “‘Popcorn Love’ by New Edition. Do not judge me.”
What not to wear: “A unitard … or any item that gives you a camel toe.”
The person I’d most like to meet, dead or alive: “Mr. Right?”
