She’s graced the pages of international high fashion magazines, but this season Erin Wasson is showing her more casual side. The model, actress and entrepreneur is the face of Rockport’s ad campaigns for this fall and spring ’13, helping the brand connect to a younger, more-fashionable consumer. The collaboration hits the right note for Wasson, who makes comfort a priority when it comes to her own shoe wardrobe. “I like to be as close to the ground as possible,” she said. “It’s the way I live my life.” And as for apparel, she looks to an unlikely source for fashion inspiration. “I’m channeling a version of Johnny Cash at all times,” she said. “I’m always in jeans or leather.” Now, after years working with ready-to-wear designers to promote their collections, Wasson has taken a turn at the design table with the launch of her own jewelry collection, Low Luv, currently sold at retailers worldwide including Saks Fifth Avenue. “I like the creative process,” she said. “I like being behind the scenes.”
Exercise regimen: “Swimming in the ocean and Pilates. However, I am not consistent with my exercise.”
Favorite type of bagel: “An everything bagel toasted with cream cheese.”
Favorite set of wheels: A 1970 GMC custom Roper. It’s a big black pickup truck. I love cars.
Most expensive dinner: “I took a large group to dinner at Commander’s Palace in New Orleans as a thank you. There were a lot of us [eating] and drinking.”
My most watched cable network: “The Food Network. I could watch ‘Chopped’ [episodes] back-to-back. I’m such a foodie. It gives me ideas for the kitchen.”
