Alessandra Ambrosio’s Good Taste

She may have given birth to her second child in May, but Alessandra Ambrosio is already back at work. The supermodel teamed with Melissa to design two styles for the label’s latest Loves Melissa line. The looks, a sparkly black pump and a flat with a glittery bow, hit the brand’s New York flagship this month, and Ambrosio was on hand last week to celebrate the launch. “Being Brazilian, Melissa is a brand I have grown up with,” Ambrosio said. “The jelly shoe is something that everyone had to have, and it was definitely an item that you begged your parents for as a kid. When they asked me to collaborate, it was a no-brainer.” She added that the shoes were created with busy mothers in mind. After all, with a young son and daughter — and a schedule packed with modeling gigs, film appearances and work as ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society — Ambrosio certainly knows the territory. “I wear ballet flats most of the time when I’m running around,” she said, “but nothing makes you feel more put together than a classic pump.”

I won’t go to a photo shoot without … “My computer.”

Favorite artist: “Eddie Vedder.”

Best way to wind down:
“I go to a spa and have a relaxing massage.”

Favorite animal: “Koalas. They are really cute.”

Comfort food of choice: “My grandmother is Polish, and she makes pierogi. It’s pasta with potatoes inside, and I love it.”

Most people don’t know that I can … “Play the piano. I studied for five or six years, and I still have one at home that I play sometimes.”
