Ultra-sophisticated silhouettes such as brogues and loafers were all over the runway as usual, though many had unique twists. Giorgio Armani (No. 1 in our ranking) and Marc Jacobs embellished their sleek styles with geometric prints or transparent cutaways, while Prada and Ermenegildo Zegna took the loafer to the next level with color blocking. DSquared2 and Gucci couldn’t resist a playful spin either, adding an unexpected pointy toe and colorful snakeskin, respectively.
Salvatore Ferragamo and Versace both gave a nod to athleticism, the former pairing a color-popping traditional trainer with slim suiting and the latter opting for an updated open-toe laceup.
John Varvatos strayed slightly from his rough-and-tough look with a classic oxford, while Dolce & Gabbana stuck with what it knows best: a luxurious European-style sandal.
