Shop Talk: Marshalls Takes Ontario… Ugg Debuts Men’s Store

Marshalls Opens Six Ontario Locations
Marshalls is going strong in Canada. The off-price retailer bowed six new stores in Ontario on March 29, following its debut in that country last year. According to the company, each store boasts more than 8,000 pairs of designer and branded footwear. “Marshalls stocks thousands of brand-name shoes for the entire family, including specialty recreation footwear,” said Marshalls spokeswoman Colleen Uncao.

Ugg Bows First Men’s Store
Ugg Australia will expand its footprint in the men’s market in June with the debut of its first men’s store. The 800-sq.-ft. location sits adjacent to an existing Ugg store at 600 Madison Ave. in New York. Public relations manager Kristen Scaravaglione said the success of the fall ’11 men’s Ugg campaign featuring Tom Brady, coupled with fresh product, made the timing right for the store. “[They] showed our commitment to the men’s business,” she said. “It was time for us to have a dedicated men’s space.” The new store, which can be accessed through the existing location, will have a new interior design targeting a male audience, added Scaravaglione. The opening also is timed for the fall debut of the Ugg Collection for men, a high-end line retailing from $325 to $795, produced exclusively in Italy.

Elizabeth Charles Opens Newport Beach Store
Celebrity favorite Elizabeth Charles is bringing her boutique beachside. The women’s apparel and footwear shop, which has locations in New York and San Francisco, recently announced plans to open in Newport Beach, Calif., on April 19. The 1,100-sq.-ft. location will feature a high-end shoe assortment with labels such as Chloe, Laurence Dacade, Nicholas Kirkwood and Jerome C. Rousseau. “I pride myself and my stores in having an authentic style with brands I love, as well as exposing up-and-coming designers, whom I hope we will all love,” founder Elizabeth Charles said in a statement.
