Fluevog Debuts Minneapolis Boutique
Canadian shoe designer John Fluevog is taking a walk down memory lane with a store in Minneapolis, which opened on Nov. 10. The location, his 10th in the U.S., will occupy space in the recently restored Uptown Theatre. And Fluevog said the city — and theater — holds special memories. His grandparents emigrated to Minneapolis from Norway in 1902 and often saw movies in that very building. The 2,500-sq.-ft. shop, located at the corner of Hennepin and Lagoon avenues, will feature art deco-inspired furniture with teak panels that share the same color scheme as the original theater.
Weitzman Bows in Dubai
Stuart Weitzman recently announced the opening of its first store in Dubai through a partnership with The Jashanmal Group. Located in The Dubai Mall, the shop features a mosaic tile accent wall and gray stone floors. Stuart Weitzman’s vice chairman, Wayne Kulkin, said the label previously had been sold only in department stores in the region but can now showcase the full product range. “We love Dubai. The consumer there understands luxury and fashion better than anyone else,” Kulkin said in a statement. “We think within the fashion industry, Dubai stands shoulder to shoulder with New York and London, and is a very important market for our Middle East plan.”
