Just weeks after inking a string of licensing deals, the nautical brand announced on Wednesday it had signed Hartmann, Geneva Watch Group and L’Amy America as partners to create Sperry-branded or co-branded luggage, watches, and sunglasses and ophthalmic eyewear, respectively.
As with the previously announced product extensions, each partner will be responsible for the marketing and distribution of their lines, but will coordinate with the brand on the look and feel of the items. Product will likewise be sold on Sperrytopsider.com, at Sperry retail stores and at select department stores and independents that are already customers of the Sperry footwear line in the U.S. and Canada. The lines are set to launch for spring ’13.
“The brand has picked up some significant momentum in the marketplace,” Sperry President Craig Reingold told Footwear News when the first round of licenses were announced. “And consumers are buying the core boat shoe but are really also buying our products beyond boat shoes: fashion flats, dress casual styles and rainboots. They’re asking for more from this brand beyond footwear.”
Sperry’s previous set of deals, announced late last month, included product extensions for bags, belts, swimwear, eyewear, scarves and hosiery for the Lexington, Mass.-based company, a division of Topeka, Kansas-based Collective Brands Inc.
