Outdoor Retailer will shift its winter show dates a day earlier to let retailers return to their stores for the weekend rush, the Nielsen-run trade show announced Monday.
The Winter Market show, held in Salt Lake City, will now run from Wednesday, Jan. 23, through Saturday, Jan. 26, with the All Mountain Demo Day now planned for Tuesday, Jan. 22. The show had originally been scheduled to run from Jan. 24-27, with the All Mountain Demo Day held on the Wednesday.
“Any event during the season that takes retailers out of their stores is always a balancing act, between having the opportunity to see new products and make buying decisions weighed against being in the store making sales,” Kenji Haroutunian, OR show director, said in a statement. “By shifting to a Tuesday-Saturday format, retailers will be able to get back to their shops for part of the weekend while still keeping the current duration that such a large show demands.”
Reservations for housing already made through Travel Planners, OR’s official housing partner, will be automatically updated, Nielsen said in the release.
The next edition of the trade show is slated for Thursday, Aug. 2, through Sunday, Aug. 5, at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake. The growing trade show announced late last month that it was opening a discussion with attendees and stakeholders to define the show’s future, from its look and makeup to the date and location.
