The executive will become chairman of Leverage Agency, a sports-marketing firm, where he will continue to work with Skechers to build its performance footwear platform, according to Skechers USA Inc. President Michael Greenberg.
“Leonard played a vital role in the positioning our [fitness] brands,” Greenberg told Footwear News. “He was instrumental in bringing in many of our athletic endorsees, including Meb Keflezighi, who became the first athlete on the 2012 Olympic team with his win wearing Skechers GoRun in the marathon trials in January, and he helped drive the success of our back-to-back Super Bowl commercials.”
Greenberg said he looked forward to working with Armato in his new role.
“He has incredible ideas for both our fitness and performance footwear, and we are excited to utilize his media and marketing insights through Leverage, a full-service sports marketing agency,” Greenberg said.
