The one-day conference is slated for June 4 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. It will open FFANY market week and coincide with the CFDA Awards, set for that night.
New confirmed speakers include Leandra Medine, author of the popular fashion blog “Man Repeller,” and designer Laurence Dacade, who collaborates with major luxury names such as Chanel and Thakoon, in addition to designing her own line.
Medine is taking part in a special social-media panel that also features Rebecca and Uri Minkoff, the brother-sister team behind Rebecca Minkoff, as well as Leah Robert, SVP of licensing and marketing at Camuto Group. Each of the speakers will take the audience inside a social-media case study that has propelled their businesses.
Dacade will join two other luxury women’s designers — Tabitha Simmons and Alessandra Lanvin of Aperlai Paris — for another unique panel discussion. The three plan to address what it takes to establish a brand in the competitive luxury market and how to build an international presence. The panel also will explore the advantages (and drawbacks) of women designing for women, and reveal their take on the meaning of luxury.
In addition to the two panels, there are several keynote speakers on tap. Designer Stuart Weitzman is expected to talk about the rise of the luxury market and the challenges and opportunities of global branding.
Toms Shoes founder Blake Mycoskie will open up about the evolution of the brand, new product extensions and his own role as a global ambassador. DSW Vice Chairman and Chief Merchandising Officer Debbie Ferrée is going to lay out DSW’s multi-channel approach and customer-engagement initiatives. Under Armour Inc. founder, Chairman and CEO Kevin Plank will sound off on the lessons he’s learned as the firm competes to become a major footwear player.
Ken Hicks, chairman and CEO of Foot Locker Inc., will take on many of the issues retailers face across the board — from consumer behavior to social media — as well as discuss his leadership style.
Also during the day, Kevin Burke, president and CEO of the American Apparel & Footwear Association, will talk about the rapidly changing sourcing landscape.
And John Jonas, founder & CEO of The Jonas Group, intends to highlight findings from a digital marketing survey commissioned by Footwear News and The Jonas Group expressly for the summit.
