To help grow his U.S. business, the Toronto-based designer has joined a multibrand sales showroom, C/O Angelique Inc., which has locations in both New York and Los Angeles.
“We are hoping to get into high-end, major [U.S.] retailers,” said Munoz. The designer’s label, which is made in Italy and retails from $500 to $12,000, is available through three independent boutiques in New York, Denver and Walnut Creek, Calif., and online at Outnet.com.
Munoz is also increasing his international presence. Nine styles from the label will be sold at Harvey Nichols in Kuwait, which is slated to open in September at The Avenues, a luxury shopping mall.
“[The Middle East] is one of the places in the world that still has real money,” Munoz said. “[Harvey Nichols] approached me, and I’m very interested in developing more business there. We have been cautious [about growth] until now, but things are turning around. I’m willing to venture out a little more.”
