Kevin Wulff, president and COO of Irvine, Calif.-based Asics America Corp., will add CEO to his title, effective April 1, the company announced Thursday.
Wulff was named COO of the running brand, a division of the Japanese athletic company, in August 2010. Last month, he took on the role of president following the retirement of longtime Asics America President Rich Bourne.
His assumption of the CEO position comes with the retirement of current CEO Nobuo Oda. Oda, who was named CEO of Asics America in March 2008, will return to Japan and will retain his position as board member for the parent company. Oda also will serve as an adviser to Asics America, the company said in a release.
“I am honored to take on this new role, and look forward to building upon the current Asics momentum and to [achieving] the company’s ambitious brand and business goals for the future,” Wulff said in the release.
Wulff, a footwear industry veteran, had previously served as president and CEO of Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based American Sporting Goods, which last month was acquired by St. Louis-based Brown Shoe Co.
