Synclaire Brands Partners With Mogo

BCNY is turning on the charm.

Under its Synclaire Brands division, the Hicksville, N.Y.-based footwear firm has partnered with the makers of Mogo, a popular tween accessories brand, to create a line of flip-flops featuring Mogo’s patented click-on magnetic charms. Set to launch in stores in mid-March, the new Click Flops are available in both girls’ and women’s sizes.

“When we created Mogo, we knew there would be a lot of potential for our [magnetic charm concept] on a wide variety of products other than our bracelets. The interchangeable aspect of our charms lends itself well to footwear,” said Paige Clark, founder, president and CEO of Seattle-based Mogo Design, whose accessories are sold in more than 2,000 stores including 120 Nordstrom locations.

Priced from $20 to $24, each pair of Click Flops comes with a starter set of two jeweled charms. A wide array of additional charms, in themes including birthstones and letters of the alphabet, can be purchased separately for $4 to $5. Mogo also offers collectible tins containing three coordinating charms, priced at $12.

“There is a great opportunity for retailers to generate add-on sales,” noted Evan Cagner, president of BCNY.

The flip-flops are available in two colorways — pink and white; and pink and black — and feature pearlized rubber straps and soft, contoured footbeds for comfort. They are packaged in ready-to-go gift bags, complete with two gift tags. “Mogo is all about instant — instant customization, instant gifting,” said Clark.

Click Flops will be sold in a mix of specialty footwear stores and gift and apparel boutiques.
