Howard Weiss, SVP of production and partner in Deer Stags Concepts, died of heart failure on March 11. He was 63.
Weiss, an attorney, joined the family business owned by Mike, Rick and Steve Muskat in 1974 as VP of administration and corporate counsel. The founders said Weiss’ knack for design and passion for shoemaking led him to relocate to Taiwan from 1982 to 1985, where he established the company’s international sourcing office.
While at Deer Stags, Weiss created two footwear patents, both owned and marketed by Deer Stags.
The footwear executive is survived by his wife, Amy, two children and two grandchildren.
