Casagrande will succeed Mark Matheny, who has been acting as interim president since last fall, when Paul Grimble left the company. Matheny will return to his previous role as VP of operations, with Casagrande reporting to Jan Stig Andersen, global president and CEO.
Most recently, Casagrande headed up sales and merchandising for New Balance across the athletic specialty, specialty department stores, sporting goods and lifestyle channels. He also launched and managed the PF Flyers brand and was GM of the New Balance Lifestyle division.
“We see enormous potential for MBT in the U.S. and are fortunate to have Joe Casagrande take the helm at this time,” said Andersen in a statement. “His years of proven expertise in product marketing, sales and management from both a national and global perspective will be a tremendous asset to the company.”
Switzerland-based MBT has also appointed Nicola McLeod to oversee the Canadian business as GM of operations there, effective April 6. McLeod will be responsible for developing brand strategy and driving consumer awareness and engagement, in addition to managing business operations on a daily basis.
McLeod most recently served as GM of Rockport Canada, developing all wholesale and retail business units there.
