The New York-based sporting goods retailer announced yesterday that Seth Horowitz would step down as president of the 147-store chain with immediate effect to pursue other opportunities. According to a release from the retailer, CEO Mitchell Modell will assume the role as president.
Horowitz, who spent three years at Modell’s after serving as president, chairman and CEO of Everlast Worldwide Inc., was named to the position in January 2009. He was instrumental in the revamping of the company’s stores, which culminated last August with the reopening of the Times Square flagship.
“Seth has been a tremendous asset to Modell’s Sporting Goods over the past three years,” Mitchell Modell said in a company statement. “His leadership, dedication, vision and creativity have benefited the company in so many ways, specifically with our companywide ‘Rebirth’ initiative. We wish him the very best in his future endeavors.”
