Fashion Forward: Casadei, Wu, Birman & More

Cesare Casadei
Top trend:
“The classic, pointed-toe pump will take on a fresh look this coming year.”

Wish for 2011: “To grow and expand the business in countries where we do not yet have a footprint. And, as always, to see my family happy and harmonious.”

Looking forward to: “Seeing our new factory finished.”

Dos and Don’ts: “Being true to you is the biggest ‘do.’ Easy style is always cool and chic, but when you try to look like someone else, you come off as tacky.”

2011 muse: “Mia Jagger.”

Jessie Randall
Dos and Don’ts:
“I don’t believe in dos and don’ts. Just be authentic to who you are and you can’t go wrong.”

Wish for 2011: “Continuing to grow and evolve our business, achieving balance in my life, being the best mom I can be, eating more greens and hopefully giving up Diet Coke.”

Looking forward to: “Coming into our beautiful new office and collaborating with a group of people I really enjoy working with on product I am excited to design. And spending time with my new baby Harry and my toddler twin boys.”

Top trend: “I am loving shoes without platforms. We just introduced our first stiletto and it is so sexy and feminine.”

2011 muse: “I always try to design shoes that I want to have in my own closet. So as a mom with a 10-week-old, I guess my muse is a less sleep-deprived version of myself.”

Alexandre Birman
2011 muse:
“Olivia Palermo. She looks amazing [and] she loves taking risks, yet always looks polished and put-together. [She is a] style icon of her generation.”

Wish for 2011: “To continue doing what I love: maintaining the growth of my brand domestically and internationally, as well as focusing on the design and quality of my shoes.”

Top trend: “2011 is the comeback of the stiletto. Forget those kitten heels — I’m seeing extremely high heels, lots of geometric lines and innovation in the mixture of materials.”

Dos and Don’ts: “Biggest do: Statement shoes that define your look. Biggest don’t: Being afraid of mixing trends. Playing it safe is boring — have fun!”

Jason Wu
Looking forward to:
“Spending more time with family and friends.”

Wish for 2011: “To expand the assortment and distribution of my shoe and handbag collections. And my top personal goal is to make the perfect macaroon.”

Top trend: “Shoes that are timeless with the emphasis on beautiful craftsmanship.”

Dos and Don’ts: “Do: Always be overdressed, never underdressed. Don’t: Take trends too literally.”

2011 muse: “Miss Wu.”
