The luxury footwear firm will partner with Hong Kong-based Pedder Group to open freestanding Christian Louboutin boutiques in Beijing and Shanghai later this year. The agreement is an extension of an arrangement in place between the two companies in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia since 2002 that has placed the French designer’s products in Pedder-owned Lane Crawford and On Pedder stores, as well as boutiques in Hong Kong; Singapore; and Jakarta, Indonesia.
“We’re committed and thrilled to bring Christian’s spirit in terms of design, communication and products into China,” Alexis Mourot, group COO of Christian Louboutin S.A., said in a release. Christian Louboutin has said it aims to increase its store base to 42 from 35 by the end of 2011.
“It has been exciting for the Pedder Group to work with Christian Louboutin to realize Christian’s vision and to facilitate the extraordinary potential within this market,” Peter Harris, president of Pedder Group, said in the release. “China represents immeasurable opportunity.”
