Camuto Group is making a move into men’s.
In fall ’12, the company, known for its women’s fashion prowess, is launching a companion men’s footwear collection under the Vince Camuto label, the first in a series of menswear initiatives.
Licensed to Robert Wayne International, which produces the Robert Wayne and John Lennon brands, the line will be a collaboration between the Robert Wayne and Camuto design teams.
According to Camuto Group founder Vince Camuto, whose namesake women’s line launched six years ago, the company was focused on growing its core business before venturing into men’s.
“There were no time restraints or track to grow rapidly,” Camuto said. “It’s now the right moment to go into men’s.”
Based on the popularity of the women’s offering, Camuto expects the men’s line to attract female customers, many of whom shop for their husbands and boyfriends.
“With a brand that resonates well with women, it makes sense to target men,” he said.
The men’s collection will focus on modern takes on classic styles and include casual to dress looks. Crafted in Italian leathers, it will feature subtle embellishments and iconic hardware bearing Camuto’s family crest.
Retailing from $100 to $250, the line is aimed at better department and specialty stores. Delivery is slated for July.
