Pickerington, Ohio-based Dearfoams is evolving into a lifestyle brand with the launch of a companion sleep and loungewear line under license to Olivet International Inc. of New York. The women’s collection of pajamas and robes, which soft launched for fall ’11 through select e-tailers, retails from $20 to $48. Rachel Iannarino, senior brand manager for Dearfoams, said a full line will debut this spring through retailers including Kohl’s, Boscov’s, Belk and JCPenney. “With society becoming more casual, it made sense to offer products that fit in with peoples’ lives, from a fun, trusted brand,” said Iannarino. A collection of cold-weather knits will be added in fall ’12.
A new player enters the flip-flop market this spring, launching with a series of unisex styles. Reno, Nev.-based Oofos is offering footwear made of Oofoam, a proprietary lightweight material that conforms to the foot. Styles also feature a built-in arch support and can be machine washed. The debut flip-flop, which retails for $40, will deliver in December, with a companion slide slated to hit in February. A series of shoes with leather and canvas uppers will be available for fall ’12. Distribution is targeted to comfort stores and independents, as well as athletic specialty and outdoor retailers. The open-stock collection is offered in a wide range of colors.
Harley-Davidson Footwear is rounding out its offering of biker looks with the spring ’12 addition of streetwear-influenced styles aimed at a more mainstream audience. The Rockford, Mich.-based brand will unveil utility and outdoor-inspired boots, harness and chukka styles for men, and over-the-ankle cuffed boots and sandals for women. Additionally, a concise offering of safety-toe footwear will be available for both genders. Set to deliver in February, the line retails for less than $200.
Swims, known for its colorful men’s galoshes and water-friendly footwear, is adding a companion series of women’s moccasins this spring, available through Want Agency in New York. Included in the collection is a slip-on boat shoe and penny moc, retailing for $149 to $179. Available in a wide range of colors, the styles are made of a TPU outer shell, antibacterial EVA insole and nylon vamp. Ventilation gills on the sides of the shoe provide added breathability. Swims also will unveil waterproof tote bags, retailing from $269 to $299.
