Women’s Buzz: BB Dakota, Restricted, Nanette Lepore

Opposites Attract
After five years of creating lifestyle apparel, BB Dakota is adding a footwear line for fall ’10. Inspiration behind the collecttion comes from a study of opposites — such as melding feminine silhouettes with masculine detailing and pairing luxurious fabrications with raw edges. The 12-style collection includes cutout heels, wedges, flats and oxfords in mesh, lace, leather and velvet. Ranging from $80 to $250 at retail, the BB Dakota footwear collection is being targeted at specialty boutiques and department stores carrying the brand’s apparel.

Bag Bound
Adding on to a lifestyle offering that includes apparel and shoes, designer Nanette Lepore is bowing handbags for fall ’10. The 40-style inaugural collection relates back to the ready-to-wear collection, featuring washed leathers, fringe embellishments and animal print on hobos, shoulder bags and clutches. Produced by New York-based licensee TAB Showroom, the handbag collection is priced between $195 and $995 and is slated to retail at Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s and Nanette Lepore boutiques.

Growth Spurt
Restricted is cutting loose for spring ’11. The City of Industry, Calif.-based brand is targeting a younger customer with its UnRestricted line of flats, wedges and heels featuring bright colors, vibrant fabrics and stud embellishments. The diffusion line is set to make its debut at FFANY next week and will be shown during WSA and FN Platform in August. Targeted at retailers including Kohl’s and Endless.com, the UnRestricted collection is expected to retail for between $35 and $70.
