She is, after all, often seen at New York Jets games in sky-high Jimmy Choo pumps, cheering on her wide-receiver husband, Jerricho Cotchery. Though sports and fashion rank high in her life, the 30-year-old North Carolina native has also turned her attention to philanthropy.
Cotchery launched the Mrs. Cotchery’s Girl Club — an offshoot of the California-based youth development program called 180 RESH (Raising Expectation, Standards and Honor) — in 2008 and has parlayed it into a co-ed program encouraging elementary students to think about career options after high school.
“We want them to be able to evaluate themselves and [think about] what they want to do,” she said, noting that she and her husband have acted as mentors in the program. “[The foundation] structures your life in such a way that it’s impossible not to have success. It has [even] helped me become extremely organized.”
Cotchery admitted that those skills have come in handy when arranging a closet full of luxe heels and boots. “I organized them by season and color,” she said. “But after you take out a couple pairs, they start to get [messy].”
Pairs owned: About 50
Brands owned: Prada, Jimmy Choo, Tory Burch and Nine West, among others
Game-day footwear: Heels. “I will wear my nicer shoes to games, and Jimmy Choo has been pretty comfortable, but it really depends on what matches my outfit.”
Oldest pair: Nine West pumps from college
Biggest splurge: $1,200 on a pair of black suede, thigh-high Casadei boots detailed with satin around the top and sole. “That’s probably the most I’ll ever pay, but they are the hottest shoes I have ever seen.”
Most important feature in a shoe: “The look. I sacrifice comfort often.”
Favorite workout brand: Reebok. “I don’t work out that often, though, so I don’t even have a pair of workout shoes right now.”
Husband’s choice: Heels with lace details from Madewell and a pair of brown, over-the-knee boots from Jimmy Choo. “[Sometimes he’ll] pick out something and I won’t like it, but then I wear it and everyone compliments me.”
Do you do your husband’s shoe shopping, too? Sometimes. “It depends on whether he needs a pair of shoes for a [specific] outfit. He usually buys sneakers or loafers to go with casual outfits. [I guess I’m in charge of] buying his more dressy shoes.”
All-time favorite pair: Tan Prada boots with circular cutouts. “I’m in love, and I haven’t even worn them yet. They are my newest, most favorite pair of shoes and are so cute.”
