Hunter is headed for the limelight.
The boot maker announced on Monday it would open a 270-sq.-ft. retail store in New York’s Limelight Marketplace in March, its first retail location in the U.S. The store will showcase the brand’s trademark rubber welly style, as well as the Boa and Huntress, and a selection of clogs, socks and accessories.
According to the company, the debut of the new shop will help transform its image from a Scottish firm with a core British consumer base to a global brand.
“Hunter is an iconic brand that has embraced the 21st century, welcoming a wide-range of customers,” Hunter Boot USA President Wendy Svarre said in a statement. “We are excited to participate in this innovative retail venue, which allows us the opportunity to directly connect with our customers in our own retail space for the first time in the U.S.”
The Limelight Marketplace is a converted three-story shopping venue in a 163-year-old building in the Flatiron District. It is meant to emulate a European street with elaborately designed storefronts.
