Geox founder and chairman Mario Polegato was named Innovator of the Year Wednesday at the CNBC European Business Leaders Awards.
The panel cited his Italian firm for having broken new ground in developing a “fashionable brand with new technology.” (Geox’s line of men’s, women’s and children’s footwear and apparel focuses on breathable materializations.)
The CNBC European Business Leaders Awards are presented every year by CNBC in cooperation with the Financial Times. The awards — which are given by a panel of judges consisting of CEOs and industry experts — seek to identify business heads who drive innovation in their markets.
“I wish to thank and share this award with all our clients, partners and with the Italian universities for their trust and valuable cooperation,” Polegato said in a release. “I receive it as an award for the company and as an award for Italy.”
