Killick Datta has taken over the reigns as the American Apparel & Footwear Association’s new chairman.
Datta, who also serves as CEO of International Brand Partners, assumed the leadership role during an officer rotation ceremony held during the association’s annual executive summit in Washington, D.C. on Thursday.
“I look forward to leading AAFA and the industry as we continue to address the emerging issues that hinder our business and impact our customers,” Datta said in a statement. “As the global economy begins to strengthen, we will find the opportunities far outweigh the challenges. To fully utilize new opportunities and maintain our competitiveness, we must be driven by innovation and outside-the-box thinking.”
With Datta’s appointment, other officers also shuffled duties. Rick Darling, president of Li & Fung USA, is now the vice chairman. Philip Williamson, chairman and president of Williamson-Dickie Manufacturing Co., is now the board’s treasure, while Joseph Gromek, president and CEO of Warnaco Inc., is now board secretary.
New board members were also named, including Jim Calo, chief supply officer at Under Armour; Michael Sanders, COO of Kellwood Co.; Gary Simons, president and CEO of Gerber Childrenswear; and Doug Williams, CEO of HMX Corp.
