Get a Grip
Pediped has debuted a new line called Grip ‘n’ Go. According to the Henderson, Nev.-based company, Grip ‘n’ Go is intended to bridge the gap between its Originals and Flex lines, offering shoes that help a child transition from early walking to confident walking. Available in sizes 19 to 23, the shoes feature soft rubber soles with rounded edges designed to mimic the natural shape of a child’s foot. A firm but flexible heel counter provides stability, and a soft toe box allows toes to curl and grip the floor. Slated to ship to stores in August, the shoes will retail from $45 to $48.
French brand Kickers is rounding out its offering with the addition of newborn shoes and slippers. Available in sizes 17 to 20, the newborn collection consists of three styles — a lace-up bootie, a fur-trimmed laceup and a bootie with a wraparound strap — each offered in a selection colors geared toward both boys and girls. The shoes, which retail for $52, feature soft suede bottoms imprinted with bears. The slippers, meanwhile, are made of colorful felted wool and retail for $48. The offering for babies, available in sizes 18 to 24, focuses on slip-on and zip-up booties with whimsical bear faces, while the kids’ collections features slip-ons and Mary Jane styles.
Glory Chen has stepped into the kids’ market. The new collection from the San Francisco-based women’s brand consists of a small selection of brightly colored canvas, smooth leather and patent leather styles for girls, including T-strap sandals, classic loafers, sneaker-inspired slip-ons and Mary Jane shoes. Just like the Glory Chen women’s line, these shoes are focused on comfort. Available in European sizes 21 to 27, the $70-to-$90 collection is being sold exclusively in Glory Chen’s San Francisco and New York boutiques.
