Timberland to Sponsor Sundance

Timberland is going to green up Sundance.
The Stratham, N.H.-based company announced yesterday it had signed on as the official footwear and outerwear sponsor of the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, held Jan. 15-26 in Park City, Utah.

Building on its previous involvement in the festival, this year Timberland will supply footwear (including the eco-minded Earthkeeper boot style), jackets and other accessories to Sundance filmmakers, jurors and other staff. The company will also document the festival with video interviews hosted by an unnamed celebrity that will air on Timberland Websites.
“At Timberland, we are passionate about the outdoors and protecting it for future generations,” Theresa Palermo, senior director of U.S. marketing, said in a release. “The Sundance Film Festival presents a unique opportunity for us to showcase our products — which are perfect for Utah’s wintry landscape — while also sharing in the festival’s commitment to preserving the environment.”
As part of the agreement, Timberland will help with the festival’s recycling and hauling efforts, and will encourage the use of public transportation.
