Shane & Shawn is taking on the issue of violence against women by teaming up with V-Day, a nonprofit global movement founded by activist and author Eve Ensler and designed to create awareness and raise funds to prevent violence against women and girls.
Company founders Shane and Shawn Ward have created two styles of shoes that will be part of the V-Day collection, with 30 percent of the proceeds going toward the organization.
The collection consists of the K-Mack, inspired by one of the designers’ bestselling styles for men, and the Eve, a specially designed pump named after Ensler. Both feature an embroidered V-Day symbol in red and fuchsia to match the shoes’ Luxury Liner, traditionally done in signature metallic gold.
According to Shawn Ward, creative director, since the company launched it has been working with organizations devoted to such causes. However, this is the first time it has collaborated on this scale. “It is the first time we ever went to this length,” he said, adding that the initiative could continue in the future with the addition of handbags and T-shirts.
The collection, retailing at $235, will be available in March at the Shane & Shawn flagship store in New York and online at Shaneandshawn.com, as well as at Vday.org.
