Robert Redford’s Sundance Film Festival runs in Park City, Utah, from Jan. 21-31 and will debut movies including “Howl,” a look at young Allen Ginsberg, starring James Franco, Jon Hamm and Mary-Louise Parker; and “Sympathy for Delicious,” featuring Orlando Bloom, Mark Ruffalo and Juliette Lewis.
For the second time, Stratham, N.H.-based Timberland will be the official footwear and apparel supplier to the festival, putting jackets and boots from its sustainability-minded Earthkeepers collection on more than 300 filmmakers and event staff, as well as providing gloves for more than 2,000 festival staff and volunteers. The brand also will have a spot in a new customer-oriented space in the Lower Main stretch of the city. According to Theresa Palermo, senior director of North American marketing for Timberland, visitors to the area will get a sneak peek at the fall ’10 Earthkeepers line and see an interactive exhibit covering the brand’s story.
“This on-site presence will provide a great opportunity for the brand to engage directly with consumers and festival-goers while showcasing our latest Earthkeepers collections,” Palermo said. “This is a great place for our brand to be.”
For those who like shredding more than cinema, The North Face Masters of Snowboarding Tour will be held Jan. 22-25 at popular ski site Snowbird. As the first location on the three-stop tour devoted to big mountain snowboarding (events in Crystal Mountain, Wash., and Kirkwood, Calif., will take place in February), the event will showcase big names and amateur boarders as they compete for the cash prize.
