Nike announced today that it would be reorganizing its Nike Brand division, part of the restructuring and potential staff reductions it announced last month.
Under the new model, the Nike brand will be organized into six geographic areas: North America, Western Europe, Eastern/Central Europe, Greater China, Japan and Emerging Markets. The new structure replaces the older model, which organized the company into four groups: U.S., Asia Pacific, Americas and Europe/Middle East and Africa.
“This new model sharpens our consumer focus and will allow us to make faster decisions, with fewer management layers,” said Charlie Denson, president of the Nike Brand, in a release.
Nike announced a company-wide restructuring in February that could result in an overall reduction of up to 4 percent of its nearly 35,000-employee workforce.
