In Brief: Deichmann Stateside… Top Women in Real Estate…

Deichmann to Debut U.S. Stores
Germany-based Deichmann Shoes is making a play for U.S. market share. The private firm, which owns the Rack Room and Off Broadway retail chains, will introduce its own stores starting this fall. It is unclear if the stores will be under the Deichmann name, as they are in Europe. Five store locations have been confirmed, starting with units in Kennesaw, Ga., and Towson, Md., with three additional openings to follow in the Boston area. A continued Northeastern retail push is planned for 2010.

Consolo to be Honored in New York
Faith Hope Consolo, chairman of Prudential Douglas Elliman’s retail leasing, marketing and sales division, has been named a “Top Woman in Real Estate 2009” by New York Residential Magazine. Consolo will be honored along with other industry winners at the Fourth Annual “Top Women in Real Estate” gala on Sept. 15 at Club 101 in New York City. In her tenure, which includes nearly 20 years as vice chairman of Garrick-Aug Worldwide before joining Prudential Douglas Elliman, Consolo brought countless prominent shoe brands and luxury fashion companies to the New York retail scene, including Jones Apparel Group’s Shoe Woo, European-manufacturer-turned-retailer Iris, Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Yves Saint Laurent and, most recently, Thierry Rabotin.
