Executive Moves at R.G. Barry, Kenneth Cole

R.G. Barry Corp., owner of the Dearfoams brand, announced on Thursday personnel shifts to its management team, including the addition of a veteran Wal-Mart merchandising executive to its sales group.

Executives Douglas Yannucci, Thomas Konecki and Jeffrey Bua have been appointed to new roles. Melanie Owens, a former Wal-Mart divisional merchant, has been tapped to handle account responsibilities for the firm’s global business with Wal-Mart.

“We continue refining our business model with an eye toward enhanced efficiency and effectiveness,” Grey Tunney, president and CEO of the Pickerington, Ohio-based company, said in a release. “Realigning our sales and brand management resources into a hybrid structure allows each of our brands to have a more focused, distinct performance metric reflective of economic realities and of our overall long-term goals.”

Under the organizational changes, Yannucci has been appointed president of Dearfoams and brands. He most recently served as VP of sales for Wal-Mart Global. Konecki has been promoted to president of private brands. He most recently managed the company’s business development and licensing. Bua has been named president of Levi’s and other licensed brands. Prior to joining R.G. Barry, Bua was SVP of Sports Casual International. Owens replaces Yannucci as VP of sales for Wal-Mart Global. Most recently, she was VP and divisional merchandise manager of shoes for Wal-Mart stores.

Kenneth Cole Productions Inc., based in New York, has named Chris Nakatani to president of wholesale. In his new role, Nakatani will have sales responsibilities for women’s and men’s footwear, handbags and apparel for all Kenneth Cole brands. He also will oversee planning, customer service and the field coordinator program. Nakatani brings 25 years of experience in wholesale sales, merchandising, licensing, corporate strategy and retail development to his new position. Prior to joining the firm, Nakatani was the corporate EVP of strategic planning at Perry Ellis International.
