“Coach is a brand that is emerging as a leader in the handbag and accessories market in China,” Cohen said in a statement. “The company has tremendous momentum, a clearly articulated vision and well-defined strategies in place for continued growth in the region.”
Cohen, who joined the firm in February 2008 as SVP of Coach International, will spearhead the development and implementation of the company’s initiatives in China and will aim to increase brand awareness and boost distribution in the region.
Presently, Coach counts eight locations in Hong Kong, two locations in Macau and
16 stores in mainland China.
According to Ian Bickley, president of Coach International, the company aims to reach $250 million in retail sales in the region and grab 10 percent of the market share over the next five years. At least 50 stores are also slated to open within 5 years.
Before joining Coach, Cohen spent time as the managing director of the Asia Pacific region for Timberland Co., and also held Asia-based management positions with LVMH and Swatch Group.
