Henderson, Nev.-based Pediped is turning things up a notch with the launch of Couture Collection, a series of dressier, more fashion-forward looks for girls. For fall ’09, the offering will feature four exotic-print leather styles, including the Audrey, a black snakeskin ankle wrap; the Jules, a silver snakeskin ankle wrap; the Nadia, a red crocodile Mary Jane look; and the Gabriella, a pink metallic snakeskin ankle wrap. The shoes, priced at $40, will be available in limited quantities. A new quartet of Couture styles will be released for spring ’10.
Klas Shoes, based in Bedford, Mass., is following up on the debut of its KruZin sneaker line with a new kids’ collection called Roc-a-Bouts. Designed to address a wide range of ages and occasions, the collection includes crib shoes and first-walkers for babies, as well as athletic styles (at left), casual shoes and dressy looks for older kids up to size 5. The line, which retails from $20 to $50, will soft launch this spring at select retailers, followed by a full rollout for fall ’09. Distribution will focus on department stores and footwear independents.
Stratham, N.H.-based Timberland is toughening up its kids’ line with a series of styles featuring the Scuff Proof technology developed by its Timberland Pro work division. On tap for fall ’09 are a black leather-and-fabric field boot, a 6-inch boot in brown waterproof leather and a black leather boot oxford (at right). All styles are unisex and available in toddler, youth and juniors’ sizes. Retail prices will range from $50 to $80, depending on the style and size.
Little Soles, based in Calgary, Alberta, is now catering to the smallest consumers with a new crib shoe collection called Baby Soles. Designed for infants up to the age of 9 months, the assortment includes booties, mocs, low-profile sneakers and Mary Jane styles (at left). According to Little Soles’ president and designer, Jessica Jacob, the collection has been put through rigorous testing by an independent, internationally accredited company to ensure they are free of harmful dyes and toxins. The shoes, which are available for immediate delivery, retail for $35 a pair at children’s independents including Heights Kids in Brooklyn, N.Y., Über Baby in Edina, Minn., and Mockingbird in Spokane, Wash.
