The St. Louis-based company has signed a licensing agreement with Marvel Entertainment to feature characters from Marvel’s upcoming movie releases on footwear for kids, men and women. Categories will include athletics, casual shoes, sport sandals, beach and EVA sandals, seasonal boots and slippers.
“Marvel’s rich world of super heroes, super villains, action and adventure has been part of people’s lives for decades,” Brown Shoe wholesale president Gary Rich said in a statement. “Through this footwear partnership, we can give fans even greater access to characters they love.”
The first collections will debut at retail next spring and will be based on Marvel’s “Iron Man 2” film, slated to hit theaters on May 7, 2010. Toddler, youth and young adult sizes will be offered.
Future collections will feature characters from Marvel-produced films “Thor” (May 2011), “The First Avenger: Captain America” (July 2011) and “The Avengers” (May 2012).
