Aetrex Worldwide has named Sigurd Lee to the position of director of sales for the athletic channel. He will be responsible for overseeing the sales team and driving sales in the specialty running, sporting goods, outdoor and golf markets.
Lee has spent more than two decades in the athletic shoe market, working at Nike for 26 years in numerous positions including director of national sales development and regional sales manager. Most recently, he was national account executive for DeSoto Mills.
The appointment of Lee is part of Aetrex’s ongoing initiative to grow its athletic business. According to Larry Schwartz, CEO, the Teaneck, N.J.-based company sees opportunities in the number of active baby boomers and increased interest in wellness for all ages.
“Over the past few years, we have expanded our product development team to include top athletic designers and have created innovative products and technologies for this market,” said Matt Schwartz, VP of sales, in a company statement.
Lee is one of several industry veterans to join the pedorthic footwear and orthotics company over the past year. Other appointments include Susan Ryder, women’s product director; Bruce Finestone, eastern regional sales manager; and John Brewer, director of sales for the shoe retail channel.
