NEW YORK — Samaritan’s Feet announced Tuesday a partnership with Italian sportswear brand Fila for the upcoming World Walk, to be held Oct. 11-25.
Fila will be the presenting sponsor at the event, which aims to raise $1 million and 300,000 pairs of shoes.
World Walk is a “barefoot walk” in which Samaritan’s Feet founder, Emmanuel Ohonme, will walk 300 miles in his bare feet to raise awareness and support for the more than 300 million children globally who have never owned a pair of shoes, Samaritan’s Feet said in a Tuesday press release.
Once Ohonme finishes the walk, Fila will present him with a new pair of Fila shoes, and during October, Fila will donate a pair of shoes to Samaritan’s Feet every time a pair of shoes is purchased at Fila.com/samaritansfeet.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Fila as a presenting sponsor of World Walk and to the ongoing work of Samaritan’s Feet globally,” Todd Melloh, Samaritan Feet’s marketing director, said in the written statement. “Their involvement and support will move to a new level both our October event and our ongoing global mission to reach the world’s neediest children with the gift of shoes.”
