NEW YORK — Saks Inc. bowed a new licensed Saks Fifth Avenue store in Bahrain Monday.
While it will cater to local tastes, the two-floor, 57,600-sq.-ft. location features many of the same designer products and services found in other Saks stores, including an expansive 10022-SHOE salon.
Located in the Bahrain City Centre in Manama, Bahrain, the store is the third retail location that Saks has opened with license partner Style Avenue Middle East. In September 2004, Saks opened in Dubai, U.A.E., with a separate men’s shop following in Dubai in last June.
“We are very pleased to bring Saks Fifth Avenue to Manama, which is a great shopping and tourist destination,” said Saks CEO Steve Sadove in a statement. “We have worked closely with Style Avenue Middle East to deliver an extraordinary assortment of luxury brands and experiences to the residents and visitors of Bahrain.”
He continued, “While our principal focus remains on improving the operations of our domestic stores, the opening of select international licensed locations can broaden the reach of our brand and produce a supplemental income stream for the company.”
This new store will be operated by sublicense group Style Avenue Bahrain, which is a joint venture between Kapica Group, Damas Jewelry, the Chalhoub Group and Bahraini business leader Abdullah Buhindi.
