NEW YORK — Collective Brands Inc. CEO Matt Rubel’s mission to “democratize fashion” just got another boost.
The Topeka, Kan.-based company announced Tuesday that Alice & Olivia designer Stacey Bendet has extended her agreement with the company for the Alice & Olivia for Payless collection, which encompasses shoes and handbags, through spring/summer ’09.
The collection is a continuation of Payless’ guest designer series, which also includes collections by Lela Rose, Patricia Field and Laura Poretzky’s Abaete. This time around, Bendet will also design a line of girls’ shoes under the same name.
“We are excited to continue to bring women across America — and now little girls — Stacey’s fun and flirty designs in the popular and well-selling Alice & Olivia for Payless label,” said LuAnn Via, CEO and President of Payless in a statement.
The spring ’09 collection will debut at New York Fashion Week.
“Alice & Olivia for Payless is designed to coordinate with the Alice & Olivia ready-to-wear collection, and I can’t wait to unveil the full spring collection at Fashion Week,” said Bendet in the statement. “It’s always a thrill to see the creative shoe designs at Fashion Week and then in stores — the in-store styles are near-exact to the runway shoes I design. Payless does an amazing job.”
