NEW YORK — Nike’s new football campaign, called “Fate,” will debut this Saturday during nationally televised college games and during Sunday’s NFL games.
The 30-second and 60-second spots trace the lives of LaDainian Tomlinson of the San Diego Chargers and Troy Polamalu from the Pittsburgh Steelers from toddler-hood through to their current NFL careers.
“The beauty of this ad is it reminds us of how much hard work, sacrifice and, yes, fate it takes to make it to the top of the sport of football,” Ken Dice, Nike VP of U.S. brand management, said in a statement. “We are showing the passionate and real journey the best in the game have gone through to suit up every Sunday.”
The ads, directed by David Fincher and produced by Portland, Ore.-based ad agency Wieden + Kennedy, will run for the next several weeks on several major networks, as well as on ESPN, BET and MTV, as well as on Nikefootball.com.
