The Boston-based company appointed Tom Carleo GM of the running and outdoor business units, and Mark Cavanaugh strategic business unit manager for sport and outdoor. Both will report to Ray Hilvert, GM of footwear at New Balance.
Carleo has worked in footwear for more than 20 years, most recently as the SVP of product for Saucony. Prior to that, he worked for Nike. Cavanaugh also worked at Nike, first managing the cleated footwear business, then in sports marketing for the hockey division.
“New Balance has achieved solid brand growth, particularly in running, in recent years,” Joe Preston, EVP of global footwear, product and marketing at New Balance, said in a statement, “and this enhanced focus on delivering superior product will enable us to increase our market share over the next five years.”
