NEW YORK — Jordan Brand, a division of Nike Inc., announced Wednesday the upcoming launch of the Jordan Melo M5.
The shoe will be the fifth launched in collaboration with professional basketball player Carmelo Anthony, who is on the American All-Star Team and contributed to the U.S.’s gold metal win at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Created to meet Anthony’s performance needs, the Jordan Melo M5’s design complements all five positions on the basketball court, according to a Wednesday statement. Anthony, who worked with the Jordan Brand footwear design director to produce the shoe, said in the statement: “I wanted the Jordan Melo M5 to be something even more sophisticated and more versatile than we’d done before, with performance still being most important. The Jordan Melo M5 incorporates my personal sense of style and mixes it with support and comfort that allows me the explosive power necessary in today’s game.”
The $125 shoe will officially launch today at a red-carpet event in Hollywood. It will launch nationwide on Nov. 22.
