Geox Prepares to Enter Chinese Market

NEW YORK — Geox is primed to take on the Chinese footwear market.

The Italian footwear company announced yesterday a new partnership with Belle International for exclusive distribution in China. The relationship will allow Geox to open more than 200 point of sales, including shop-in-shops, in China by 2010.

Shenzhen, China-based shoe retailer Belle International controls 8,154 retail locations throughout mainland China.

In a statement, Geox founder and Chairman Mario Moretti Polegato called the partnership an important move for the company’s global expansion strategies.
